Currently, only O2 handsets come from the factory Unlocked to all networks, however, If my memory serves me correct, a Voda Staff member on here mentioned that new Vodafone handsets will now also come unlocked. Im guessing your handset was old stock, prior to the new unlocked stock.

I thought all Vodafone contract phones came unlocked? They did offer to unlock it, but that's not the point. Do any of the Vodafone moderators know why I might have been sent a locked handset?
Hi ramjam,

As GSi-R correctly said, our contract handsets are now supplied network unlocked, so you'll be able to use any SIM in them. I do believe it was me who announced this on N95Users a few weeks ago :)

The likelyhood is your particular handset is older stock from before unlocked handsets were issued, but we can easily get this unlocked for you anyway so there's no need to worry.

Just head over to the Contact Vodafone form, and include the code FIT135 in your message. This will route your query through to the Forum Team who will get your handset unlocked. We'll need your IMEI, as well as any security information requested on the contact form.

Speak to you soon,

edwardpeter

Strange...i'm on O2 and my last handset - SE k800i - was network locked.

Hello there,

Just a quick question that someone might be able to help with regarding the unlock codes.

I am a long standing Vodafone contract customer and I have recently bought an N95, but was previously using a Sony Ericsson K800i. This was a branded phone and is still in excellent working order, however, my son would like to use it as his PAYG but he is on O2. Can I get the unlock code for free for the SEK800i?

Thanks in advance

I would've thought so, especially if the phone's 12months old or older. And I believe the free unlocking applies to all Vodafone contract customers. I had a 2 N95's unlocked F.O.C even though the contract was taken out on a SE K800i. The problem I encountered the 1st time was that the CS people I spoke to at the time (5-6 weeks ago) didn't have a clue and I spoke to 4 reps until I got one who'd unlock it for free. On the 2nd phone a couple of weeks later I had no problems getting the unlock code at all. If all else fails, contact one of the Vodafone posters on this website and ask them for the code

Hi JayW

I don't know if you've had chance to contact Vodafone yet about the NUC for K800i?

If not, and you still want to get your phone unlocked, we can easily get this sorted out for you if you just head over to the Contact Vodafone form and include the code FIT135 in your message. This will route your query through to the Forum Intervention Team who will get your handset unlocked. We'll need your IMEI, as well as any security information requested on the contact form.

Hope this is useful and look forward to hearing from you.

Maybe you were just lucky the previous time.

It has always been Vodafone's policy that PAYG customers need to pay for getting their unlock codes.

Vodafone uk free unlock code
