N82 camera - pictures washed out?
Hi guys,
Started taking lots of pics with my N82, but faces in pictures appear really bright, and white objects also appear in this way.
All settings are on auto. Anything I can do to prevent this?
Thanks,
Jen

this may help a user , help you more
:-)
you have many settings like white balance , iso etc etc these maybe of assistance :-)
you can save the settings the open them via personal settings part in the camera mode selection :-)

More than likely, you're taking the picture to lost to the object in question. As the Xeon flash is very bight, it'll wash out any light surfaces if you're to close.
Try stepping back a little more when taking the image.

**Before i go ahead i would like to state that i do not mean any insult, i apologise if what i'm about to say may seem harsh/ excessively obvious.
Did you know that Nseries devices have autofocus camera?
Meaning instead of snapping a picture straight away, you should lightly press down on the camera button first, and allow the camera to focus.
This will help you get clearer images as well as allow the device to adjust to the most suitable setting and adapt to your current lighting condition.
Many camera users (not photographers), aren't aware of this and tend to just press hardly on the camera button, forcing the camera to snap a picture before it gets a chance to adjust and adapt to the lighting, focus etc.
I hope this helps, do try it out and let me know.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions guys.
Micky: I have tried messing with some camera settings, but to no avail.
buxz777: I'm taking the pictures indoors with indoor lighting, 4-6 ft from subject, and have tried white balance, again to no avail.
IJM: I've tried taking shots from further away, the flash is indeed very bright!
Leong: No offence taken. Yes, I am aware of the autofocus function and using it correctly (as far as I'm concerned! - waiting until brackets turn green).
I will persevere and let you know the outcome.
Thanks,
Jen

Jen, try the exposure compensation setting. It's one of the icons on the right hand side of the camera application (just scroll down to locate it).

hmm but even on auto it should not have such effect, n82 does one things brilliant and consistent and that is take pictures, so there is something else going on if you try various conditions and still no luck...are you in the latest firmware? lens clean and clear of any debirs or such...?

Thedash71: Your suggestion worked a treat! I lowered the exposure compensation and now everything looks more natural. Thanks.
I am experiencing lens flare on some pictures, but don't know what causes this. I've taken two pictures in quick succesion of the same object, one shot suffers from lens flare, the other turns out fine. I know it's a common problem with cameras, anyone any ideas on how I can reduce this?
Thanks,
Jen
