I really like my N96, so I'm gonna stick up for one of them!! I've not tried the N85, but it does sound like a nice phone. I've not had a problem with the 2 things people usually moan about, battery life and buggy firmware. The Battery lasts a couple of days between charges when the I was lucky to get 24 hours out of a N95-2,using it in exactly the same way. The lagging in the phone is no worse than pre-v20 on my old n95-1 and I would expect Nokia to iron out the few remaining bugs with the v12 update we N96 users are expecting soon.
TV's a waste of time though and I'd have quite liked the FM tuner the N85 has!!

N96 is still a good phone ramjam, its just that most of us here wouldn't choose it over the N85 given the choice of the two.

Yeah, probably me too if I'd found one cheap enough!! The N96 I bought was for sale on ebay from a seller in my village and he only wanted £300, so that's why I bought it. Had it been a N85 I would have bought that, I'm sure!

whats the fm transmitter quality actually like? I know from experiience that some are great (pretty much mp3 quality), and then some are just pure and utter _ _ _ _. (sound like a cassette)

Its really impressive to be honest. I'd say MP3 quality is a fair assessment.
