Post Review: ProClip Car mount for N95-2

Over on Thenokiablog, Mark Guim has reviewed the ProClip incar mount for the N95-2 (8GB)

Great review, particularly if your looking for something like this, there are photos, and details all about this mount in the link above.

That looks really good. I'm glad they've got a right-hand drive option for us brits. I'm gonna have to look into getting one of these for GPS.

I have one of these for my N95-3 and it's been great. It easily sees the GPS sats through the moon roof and is out of the way for when I'm focused on the road (most of the time), but close enough that I can see who's calling without completely taking my eyes off the road. I definitely recommend it (plus you can get different mounts, even one that will allow you to mount multiple devices, such as your phone and an iPod, etc).

This looks great.

Do you have to drill any holes into your dashboard though?

Does the standard mount allow swivel?

Cheers

Didn't have to drill anything, just had to slide a couple plastic pieces into place to open up a spot for the mount to clip onto the dash, but it took all of five minutes, if that (and I was being very careful to not mess it up).

I can't recall if the standard one swivels, it may not. I think there were three options when I ordered and I'm pretty sure I went with the second option because it offered swivel, although I could be wrong, it's been a while since I installed it.

Quick edit: I just remembered that there are two types of proclip mounts, one that clips onto an a/c vent and the standard one that clips into place (and stays in place thanks to some adhesive bits) somewhere on the dash (I'm sure where on the dash depends on which car).

Had a look on the website and it looks like a good piece of kit!

Thanks for the reply Lapis.

Deos anyone know if you can you slide the N95 8gig open in the holder? (this is essential for picking up good GPS signal for navigation)

Can you access the volume buttons whilst the phone is in the holder?

I'm after the version that allows you to swivel the phone so i can have it on landscape.... is this the correct model: Special Deal Proclip / Car Bracket+Tilt & Swivel with Richter Plate to Mount BlueMedia PNA Mio 268 269. - its the only one that mentions swivel for my car model (Golf 08)

It's includes the + Brodit Tilt and Swivel with Richter Plate to Mount BlueMedia PNA Mio 268 269 but no reference to the N95 8gig...

This is the one just for mobile phones but it ha no mention of swivel... Special Deal Proclip / Car Bracket+Mobile Phone Holder.

Can anyone advise which model I might need?

Cheers

Glad I can help (would've replied sooner, but been caught up with personal stuff). When I bought the proclip setup (and it's still this way--just checked their site) I had to buy the mount and the device holder separately. I think this is probably the right mount for you: Mount

This looks to be the device holder you want: N95 8GB w/swivel

I haven't used one of these with an 8GB, but my N95-3 fits just fine with the slide open or closed, and the volume buttons are completely accessible. If it doesn't mention swivel, then it probably doesn't have it (the ones on the Proclip site that don't have swivel simply don't mention it, rather than saying outright that they don't have that feature).

I've been very happy with mine and find that it's the best place for the phone to go in the car, especially when using the GPS (doesn't hurt that you can plug a charger into it with no problems at all).

Hope all that made sense, been kind of a long day.

Thanks Lapis, sorry it's taken me soo long to respond! Appreciated your feedback and have actually bought and fitted the Brodit parts in the last couple off weeks.

Really happy with it. I think it looks really cool, is a tight secure fit on the N95 8 gig and it swivels and tilts as well as i had hoped it would.

It was just a tad fiddly to get the screws in that attach the swivel attachment to the dashboard holder piece at first, but once i got the hang of it it was fine.

A few pics below.. highly recommended! I bought from Handnav who where super helpful on the phone.
