Shoutboxes in my experience are just spam magnets.

I've run several online communities in the past so I've tried shoutboxes (I've even coded a few).

They are just full of people using it as a chatroom, they tend to serve no purpose imho.

yea, no point having a chatbox. This is a forum, we voice out our opinions freely, so there's no point having a chatbox
