What theme are you using? Im getting the old search box too, and Im using the N95 8GB dark theme.

What about making the text "search" on the button white (so it's easier to see) rather than black? Or maybe it would be better off with no text and just with the magnifying glass icon.

Are you using IE? The text over the button is suppose to appear, however does so in IE7. I will be fixing this shortly, so only the magnifying glass is present.
