N95Users Expansion over the coming weeks
Well folks, its looking like the time people are venturing away from the N95; and into some newer models. This site has built quite a bit of momentum over the last year and a half, and is showing no signs of letting up.
I have talked to the mods, and we personally agreed that opening up sub forums for the higher end mobiles would be the next logical step. After a few months, we would then move to a more suitable domain.
What we would like to do is keep our current sections as is; and open some up for the N96, N85, E71, and maybe 2-3 more. We originally thought making a smaller site for the more popular phones would be the best step, however this isnt the best way to keep the knowledge base together. This also proves useful as several sub forums are relevant to all models (Symbian, Third party apps, and even some accessories).
We would love to hear some feedback!

sounds like a great move forward !
With all the new S60 Nokias on the way I think this is a good thought for the future as some members upgrade the handsets nearing replacement age which itself will bring new questions related to those specific products as well as questions related to both new models and the N95

This forum is my second home. A place full of the most technical and friendly N95 people around. Change is always good, the world of technology is evolving and Nokia phones are too. I just hope, whatever the changes, il always be able to find out who what where and why for my N95-1. And also, to keep the posts on here! As its a priceless resource of all the info over the last few years.

Good idea, where did it come from ;)
Would there be a little adjustment? There probably wouldnt be any point in keeping sections like GPS and accelerometer as subforums in different device categories, as they would apply to all devices.
Obviously things differ a bit, such as the N96 having dual LED, N82 having xenon, etc etc.
But I reckon there would be loads of identical posts if these sections were duplicated for each device.
It will of course, mean I stay haunting the satnav part of the forum. Good or bad thing, I dont know :)
Its worth mentioning that dispite being on this site since January 2007, I havent owned an N95. Originally came here after finding some satnav info, and because most of whats on here applies to any S60 V3 phone, I stayed. The people on here helped have a role in that also.
Opening it up to other popular devices with the huge amount of information already on here should bring in even more people.

Where did it come from indeed- hehe.
No, it's the logical step, your right. And I think it'll service two main purposes. 1. To keep the wealth of knowledge around these boards and 2. Keep the sense of community and clique type spirit which is imperative for a forum I think.
Great move Admin, I have full trust in you, and I am sure in what ever way it's implemented into the existing site will be brilliant. And I am sure it'll be run just as good as it has been already.
With all the newer devices having the same 5MP camera, I'll be in contact about next years photo competition and I am sure we can sort something out about that :)
Well done chaps, exciting times ahead for this place. Glad to be part of it.
