iPod = mobile phone ????
I was talking about the N95!

Two separate sentences - as denoted by the use of a full stop.

But if you need me to hold your hand whilst you are reading then here goes:

"I'm sure that the iPod would have never taken off if people became obsessed with the fact that the early models would eventually become obsolete."

Using the iPod as an example, I am suggesting that all new technology, by necessity, has to go through phases of lower specifications - ergo, they will become obsolete when the technology is more widely adopted and incorporates higher specifications. Or, in the words of the OP, becomes a dinosaur.

"So, how long has it been out?" The N95. The only mobile phone under discussion in the post.

"And it is still the best mobile phone on the market" The N95. 'And' being a conjunction used with poetic license at the start of the sentence to indicate that we are still talking about the N95.

"I say this as a Mac user since 1984." That as a Mac user since 1984, I might be expected to have an affinity with the iPhone - but I still think that the N95 is the best phone on the market 12+ months since its launch.

Hence, a daft question, really.

All clear now?

I honestly think the n95 will be the flagship phone for a while, even when n96 comes out. It's the 3310 of this century man!

Yes- again, the N96 is not intended to replace the N95. It's not as powerful of a device, and it is simply not going to be the flagship device. Despite the numerology of the device- Nokia is also not billing it as the new flagship device. The N95 retains that position.

It will still be sometime before the N95 is de-throned.

I suspect the next flagship will have touch involved somehow.

Would a name change of N95 Users come in order? Nseries Users perhaps?

But I agree with the others... N95 still has a few years to go until its succeeded... N96 is nice, but wasn't the N95 "the one that started it all"? The previous Nseries phones didn't have as much acclaim as the N95, right?

Mentioned up a bit back there is your answer, mate. We've already put forums in place at N95-1 v21.0.016 Available at Nokia Service Centers Now | Nokia Users to handle the transition from the N95 to whatever Nokia device, Nseries or otherwise, that the many members of this community switch to.

I would doubt it, actually. It's more than likely that the first S60 touch device will not be a massive convergence beast with features that match what would be expected of the next flagship device. We'll just have to wait and see. End of the year I would guess.

i think the problem with touch screens is you need a large screen or a stylus (or small fingers)
one of the things i like best about the n95 is that its quite small, ive tried a mates LG viewty and its just to easy to press the wrong thing, especialy when txting
