Your just removing the operators branded firmware and junk and installing a generic nokia one without the added... junk! Makes the phone alot more responsive and removes the barring of certain features which the operators disable ie with Orange you have VOIP disabled

1. question: when u said replace it and install it with a "generic nokia one" you mean different type of firmware? i own a N95-3 v.11 can i debranded and install lets say n95-1 v.21? is that the purpose?

2. question: by "junk" you mean unnecessary apps?

1. no you cant you need to install the latest firmware for your model of N95 eg N95 - 1 V13 to N95 - 1 V21..... so you can upgarde/debrand you N95 - 3 to any higher Version for the N95 - 3

2. all the stuff that gets put on that slows your N95 down..eg standby screens crappy screensavers etc etc

Just got my N95 today and hate the Orange branding.
Are you saying i have to upgrade the firmware first before debranding it?
