Question Debranding a Orange Nokia N95-1

Hi there,

I've known about debranding from the very moment I touched my Orange branded Nokia N95. I left and it considered it after my waranty had expired.

Well, it's 10 months down the line and I've had enough so I'm ready to debrand.

I know all the methods of doing it and am prepared to take the risk.

There are just a few things holding me back...

How exactly will this affect my warranty upon Orange or Nokia?
Is it likely to break after Reformatting?

There a few more things regarding the service provider...

The 'Orange Internet' connection setting is protected and cannot be changed or editted, does anyone have the settings so they can be manually inputted after debranding? And will it work the same?

Will the Orange World still work and remain free (so I can check my remaining minutes) as wehn I connect via Wi-Fi, it mentions I need to connect using an orange connection.

Will I recieve this message after debranding as it could be part of the firmware or will it remain the same because it simply based on Network settings?

Thanks in Advance
Hyped

Nokia will respect your warrenty I think not so sure about orange.

Your interent settings will remain but i dont know about free orange world.

And reformatting wont break it or rebrand it

Orange World will still be free.

You'll be chuffed when you do it, makes the phone so much better.

Hi hypedupmonkey,

I am also thinking of updating the firmware on my UK Orange N95 but have similar reservations.

It sounds like it all went well for you. I would be very greatful if you could let me know....

1. What version of firmware you updated to.
2. What product code you used.
3. Were the orange internet settings kept or did you need to re enter them.
4. Is there anything on the phone that does not work as expected after the upgrade.

Many thanks

Darren.

Debranding instructions

I too have an Orange phone which has been unlocked and I use on a BT account. I would like to get rid of all the Orange menu links and make it a generic n95, and assume this is the best way to do it? Can someone provide me with the instructions on how to do this and any codes I will need?

Thanks

it's putting the original software from the manufacturer instead of the one from your service provider.
