I know what you mean! Not good! There's actually an application that will dot his without hacking, and I think you can roll itback if you want as well. Unfortunately, I found it after I tried this!

what if you perform a reversal of the steps?

1. Copy the original appshelldata.xml into C:\private\101f4cd2\content. if asked for overwrite, allow it

2. Delete Menu.mif from C:\resource\apps\

3. Restart your phone

i've attached the original appshelldata.xml in a zip file. not sure it'll work though, the Menu.mif could be in use. i'm don't think i'd want to test and mess my layout

but should any of you try it out, do report back with the findings!

Arrrrgh! I spent ages formatting the phone and reinstalling today! Never mind, lol! Thats a bloody handy file to keep ahold of, for anyone who likes messing with the OS.

I also found THIS, supplied by Nokia themselves. Apparently, it will restore the menu to the new format (it was meant for an up-dated phone that has been restored, mucking up with menus with original configuration).

Anyway, cheers hairilabubakar! It seems to me that if that file is the original, then deleting the menu.mif and over-writing the XML files should work after a reset.
