Thumbs up How to remove Vodafone Live! from Wallpaper!

Hi All!

I bought the N95-2 8Gb on vodafone.

I have seen a lot of problems with branding but to be honest the only thing that bothered me was the stupid Live! shortcut on the wallpaper above the RH selection key!

When I bought it it had this firmware on it out of box:

V15.0.015
11-12-07
RM-320
NOKIA N95 (60.01).

Now I WAS going to debrand it but I realise there was a lot of problems with some people with loose sliders after a while and didn't really want to invalidate my Vodafone warranty in case I got a problem down the line - although I will add - I have noticed that nearly all the versions that develop a loose slider have been made in China - mine is made in Finland.

So, I just did a straightforward firmware update via the Nokia Software Updater and now have:

V20.0.016
28-02-08
RM-320
NOKIA N95 (60.01).

Now before I did this I could actually specify the change to this annoying Live! shortcut but it STILL functioned as a Live! shortcut - even though it said Camera, Clock, or suchlike! Very annoying as it is so close to end call I kept hitting it and flying off to the Internet!!!

Since I have updated to V20.0.016 - I CAN _ YEP _ CAN change it to anything I like!!!

WOOOHOOOOOOO!

And even better I did NOT have to debrand nor invalidate warranty.

So - crux is:

Simply update with the VERY latest Nokia Software Updater from here.

Backup your contacts to Mass Memory AND PC in case Mass callback fails!!!

You will lose entire settings so will have to set it up as if from new again - but this is good just to get that out-of-the-box rush again!! HE HE HE!

IMPORTANT!!! Ensure the USB connection does NOT go via a hub and will NOT be interrupted halfway - plug the charger in too!

It worked for me and am well-pleased!

I hope this helps someone?

Enjoy & Rock on!

I hope this helps someone!

Turn N95 off.

Remove back cover.
Remove battery.

Small white label - it is on here!

Also, on here is the product code that starts with an 05xxxxxx that u need to check on NOKIA website if there is an update available!

I will say that since updating to new firmware GPS data works (position, speed etc) but GPS Maps no longer runs!

Anyone know a fix?

Ta.

No no, you got me wrong, trust me, Im fully aware of clones, and differences in N95 models etc.

I wanted to know where you found out most of the N95's that haver loose sliders are made in China.?

There are brand new N95 models being purchased, and have loose sliders straight out of the box, more so on later models, and these are Made in Finland also. There should be some play to enable the dual slider to fully function correctly.
