N95 BLACK 8GB Vodafone

hey everyone, ima new member :D been browsing the forum for a couple of days and just wanna say it is really helpful and informative!
anyway...i am gettin a n95 8gb as an upgrade from my dad's contract and as i am on t-mobile....u can guess where this is leading- i wanna debrand and unlock the phone...

ive read several articles regarding debranding but it wasn't really that clear to me as to whether how i would go about unlocking and debranding the phone to rid of all vodafone extras on the 8GB

a few questions i have to ask though,
firstly, i know to unlock the phone i would have to get the unlock code from voda for 20quid which is fine by me, but im confused about the product code being changed when debranding, how woudl i go about debranding and unlocking would i unlock using the code from voda first then debrand using the procedure at this link N95 Tips

what i am confused about is that is i unlock then debrand will the phone lock as in sim restriction be activated once i have debranded as i am changin the product code.......soo confused :S sorry for the n00b questions

if anyone has unlocked and debranded a vodafone N95 8GB please coudl u post feedback of how it went..was it successful? are there any drawbacks?

thanks in advance :D

Firstly, welcome to the forums Ricky.!

Secondly, De-branding, is basically just removing any network provider software, such as Vodafone splash screen, and advertising.

Unlocking is completely different, and your correct, contact Vodafone, and they will give you the unlock code over the phone, and either take the credit out of your balance(if payg), or charge you on your bill(if contract).

As to debranding, you use NSS (Nemesis Service Suite) as per guide on here, but please note, your warranty will be void when debranding.

I used NSS to change the code on my N95-2 and updated to v20.0.016 without any problems.
The weird thing is that the Vodafone splash screen and menu items are still there.

Did anything go wrong without me noticing it?

Anyone els has/had this "problem"?

I had a vodafone business contract n95 8gb. I debranded it straight away and unlocked it later and it all worked fine. I dont have any vodafone splash screen. Not sure if I did before I debranded it. All I get is the nokia handshake.
