removing icons from the main screen???

hey guys, its my first post here so dont kil me for posting it in the wrong place (im not sure where to put it.)
also im not sure if its already been discussed cause im not one for technical words so dont know where to look.

basically i was wondering if its possible to remove the icons and diary thing from the main screen, and how to do it?

it really bugs me.

Welcome to the forums, a quick search here would of found your answer Jon, as you can imagine, your not the first person to ask about such.

Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Personalisation>Stand-by Mode>Off
