How to disable N95 multimedia launcher!

Hey guys,

I found a way to disable the multimedia menu from opening when you slide downwards! It also disables it when you press the button though, unfortunately. But if like me you don't use it and it's plain annoying, you can disable it. Here's how:

To disable:
1. Download, sign and install FExplorer for S60 3rd Edition (from gosymbian.com)
2. Open up FExplorer, click processes, highlight "anykey.exe" and press C. Confirm.

To re-enable:
1. Restart the device

This is obviously not the greatest fix as it only works until you restart or poweroff the phone, but it's a fix nonetheless. The only problem is I don't know if anykey.exe does any other function other than handle the multimedia menu. Either way, anything goes wrong due to this just restart and you're fine!

Hope this helps someone out there! XD

PS: It's my birthday in 15 minutes and I'm posting on an online forum... that says something about my lack of social life, doesn't it?

Think of the colouring as my Occupational Therapy... Beats Basket Weaving!

BTW, I'm more of an incomplete stranger... Bits keep wearing out and dropping off!

When I try to install FExplorer, it says that "Installation is not supported". What should I do?

What should you do... let's see... well first, you should create a thread in the appropriate subforum and state your problem there, rather than hijacking someone else's thread, and then we'll go from there.

Javawag... I thought the same as you... at first... Then I realised that in your initial post in this thread that you'd said "...Download, sign and install FExplorer for S60 3rd Edition (from gosymbian.com)". So I guess the question added to this thread is a legitimate one after all...

Cletus... I'm afraid that before you can install FExplorer, you need to obtain a Developers Certificate and sign the .sis file using that.

And as Javawag brought the problem to you, I'll let him explain it... It's the least that he can do to make amends for jumping down your throat! ;)

Oh god I did, didn't I? Apologies Cletus it's been a long day! Ok so the problem you're experiencing could be that it's not signed as sp00k stated. However, the fact that it says "Installation not supported" leads me to believe you may be downloading the S60 version instead of the S60v3 version (this one). But as sp00k said it will need to be signed with something like QuickSignSIS. Again, sorry! I didn't realise that I'd said that! .....I feel mean now!
