Exclamation Nokia OVI Suite mini Review

Ok, just a quick review of the New Nokia OVI Suite

Did you know OVI in Finnish means "Door"?

When launched, this was displayed on my screen for almost 1 minute. Which pretty much lets you know what to expect. Slow.

Right, before you download, and install OVI Suite to your PC, make sure you have plenty of Processor power as it takes up a hell of a lot, and in my experience on laptop, it takes an age to do anything. The first launch, and sync took forever, and what seemed to had frozen, i exited it.

You can nominate folders on your PC for it to scan for any new images, for example, Pictures, Bluetooth Exchange Folder etc.

Here are a few screenshots of what to expect..

Some nice touches with the battery level, and memory status bars.

The view below shows any folder contents you have set up with it, like "My photos"

And then onto the 3d gallery view, which is similar to the Firefox plug-in called PicLens, but to be honest, its very confusing, and with the autopilot setting, makes you wonder what on earth its doing.

Overall, I think its too much for too little, and personally i will be sticking with PC Suite, which is a shame, as I have a OVI account, and was hoping to sync with that.

I have not done too much with it yet, so will add to this mini review the more I try out when i get time.

Well, a quicker than expected update. I have removed this from my PC due to it slowing it down too much.

I will be sticking to PC Suite.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. When OVI was first released it kept giving me errors on my laptop (dell e1705) Recently i loaded it again, of course it took a bit to load the crappy 3d gallery. Once it got done(1700+ files) I disabled the 3d gallery. I think that is what is causing all the slowdowns and crashes. It seems to work ok now since getting rid of 3d gallery.
