JuiceCaster review

Ok so I'm finally fed up enough to share my feelings about this virus, I mean program. A little while back I decided to download JuiceCaster after reading that I could use it to upload to myspace and several other sites. To me this sounded like a great idea, that was until I actually downloaded it. I used the download section on my phone and the download was free so I figured I'd try it, BIG MISTAKE. After downloading and installing the App it started up and asked about purchasing options, I guess you need a subscription to the service to use it. Now that's not a problem at all but I didn't want to pay so I closed the app and then uninstalled it using App Manager. This is where I realized this program is more of a virus then a program and to me it's one of the worst written programs I've ever downloaded to my phone.

It's a virus not a program: After uninstalling the application I thought my troubles were done but I was wrong. EVERYTIME I take a picture it asks if I want to upload to JuiceCaster and the yes and no buttons do nothing but exit this pop-up. The camera is unuseable until you answer the question so if you want to take several pictures in a row YOU CAN'T, if you want to use the camera's auto timer for say a time lapse of the sun rise while on vacation YOU CAN'T because after EVERY picture you have to answer yes or no. As if that wasn't bad enough of a virus, every time you modify a picture or save a picture from a MMS it asks you if you want to upload,EVERYTIME. Now there may be a setting to change this but I UNINSTALLED IT already and now can't get rid of this virus. I have also tried several times to re-download the app from the download section but it fails everytime I try to open it.

I also decided to visit their website and contact them to see if I can get help, I wrote them with my exact problem and got the automated "We will respond within the next day or so" and have heard nothing so to me their tech support is just as bad as their program.

P.S. If I have to wipe my phone and reinstall everything and copy everything back onto the phone (about an hour or two job) then I'm going to be even more upset at this little virsus.

So my verdict on JuiceCaster is DO NOT DOWNLOAD, it is more of a virus then anything, I strongly suggest avoiding it at all cost.

Ditto, thanks for the heads up. I swear by ShoZu for uploading to several of my sites directly from my N95.

I think you got the virus from somwhere else

I have been using juicecaster for a few months now with no problem. Its pretty cool once you get the hang of it and i met quite a few hot chicks on there.
You may have downloaded a virus from some other program or just have a bug in the phone or somekind of carrier conflict, like your provider wants you to use their video program, not the juicecaster. good luck dude.

Hi All,

My name is Lex and I'm the Product Manager for JuiceCaster on S60. I am VERY SORRY you've had trouble deleting the app. This is a known issue affecting some handsets, which is fixed in later versions. Please be assured that JuiceCaster is NOT a virus! We work very closely with Nokia and are official partners. See Nokia's site:
http://www.nokia.com/NOKIA_COM_1/Dev...ter_SC_PRO.pdf

If you're having the uninstall problem described above, there's a VERY SIMPLE solution. You don't need to reformat, etc. What's happening is that the uninstall process is failing to automatically uninstall one of the files, so you have to do it manually. Simply do the following:
1) Go to "App Manager" on your phone
2) Remove the file "JuiceObserver" (if you have JuiceCater installed, this file monitors the camera button to enable one-click publishing to your favorite social networks)
3) That's it!

Once again, we're very sorry for the hassle you've experienced. If you've got any Q's please drop me a line!

Thanks,

Lex @ Juice

Lexicon, unfortunately if you read my write up I did uninstall everything that was listed in app manager. Also the review was written in August and I had emailed your company twice using your web site to ask about this issue and recieved nothing back eiher time. I had to use a program to hack my phone to manually delete the start up file. Sorry for the harsh write up but I wrote my review as honestly as I could, I'm glad 3 months later you guys got back to me but I personally won't be trying the newest version.
