The only other way they could check is if NSU read your IMEI number and compared that to a remote data base...
Personally I dont think Nokia are that bothered by it, and they probably wont be until the operators really get on thier case

That's exactly what this thread is talking about... have a read of the first few pages..

Sooooooooooooo then!
As we have no discovered, with hacked/change product coded phones, we can quite happile update our phones to what seems by many people to be that last firmware on the n95.
If that is true does that make this thread redundant now?

Well no problems here updating to v30 Debranded, product code changed and hacked, not to mention unlocked (not that that makes any difference anyway). I'm in the middle of rebuilding it from afresh. Two hours and counting. Mind you with nearly 1500 songs I'm not surprised. I was happy with v21 only did it cause I can and my phone needed a good tidy up.

I know exactly where your coming from dynomot..! My N95-1 is due a freshen up, so I will be upgrading to V30 tomorrow. I have formatted the mass memory of one of my N95-2's today, and got that ready for the new firmware, which I suspect will be available pretty soon as well.

1 thing i have noticed with this new firmware, dunno if its because i have "started a fresh" but my memory happily hands around the 11mb free area. Even with plenty of programs it goes happily back to 11 to 13mb. Maybe the new firmware has helped someway....

Im running slide helper, remind me and ultimate voice recorder.
The thing is, i have an 8gb card that is full of pics, videos. mp3 etc
many people on here (i have posted the problem before) say its programs running etc
BUT if i remove the card, it will shoot up to 16mb free. If like you i restart with no card it will hover around the 25mb mark.
Which is why i think the 16gb cards will be a waste of time. The only conclusion is the more files you have. the more memory the phone uses to handle them. I get this AFTER updating to V30 (formatting the entire phone in the process) installing progs ONLY to phone memory AND formatting the sd card.
So it cant be progs as when i take the card out i have loads of mem free.
Its just simply i have to many files for the phone to handle, i belive when they made the phone, they didnt take into account that one day (me) would come along with an 8gb card and have over 1000 images.

Its a sandisk 8gb class 4 from mymemory.
If i stick a 2 or 4gb card (still with plenty of files on) the memory drain isnt as bad.
Last night i did a restart and with my card in it hovered around 25mb, now ive checked this morn and its slowly drained to 14mb.

Where on Earth are you? Your location isn't that informative.
How many applications, and games do you have installed, and have you installed a lot of things to phone memory?
