i have a fishy feeling there'll be another "big" update coming for us soon (within nov/december).

Reason being that too many ppl are unsatisfied with this firmware, just too little updates in this one! This is something like the v20 firmware for the N95-1 where ppl were still complaining and BOOM we got the v21. I feel nokia WILL include FP2 transitions and fix up whatever bugs this current "beta firmware" has.

That's right i'm calling v30 a "beta firmware" because it's unbelievably lame. Just reading the comments here and there makes me feel like the Nokia Guini Pigs we all were when we first bought the N95 early last year!

same dude... its not the best firmware in the world.. but then again the majority of the improvements were in v21 soo they may not bother with dear old n95-1 anymore as its 2 years old now... but then saying that they are still updating n73 2 years on v4.08 update came out couple of months ago!

nokia did a similar thing to n73 last year they brought out a v4.07 Update out on the 4/9/07 it was not all that great
then they released a new update out in dec.. like 15th dec 2007 and it was much quicker and more improvements! so yeah i wouldn't be suprised!

im waiting with baited breath for the v30 update for n95-2....

I too was under the impression that V30 would be the last firmware the N95-1 sees, but I have to say, i agree with Leong, there are far too many bugs, and little updates in this V30 to better the V21 firmware, so I too am hoping Nokia still have something up their sleeve for the N95-1 ;)

Bugs?

*shrug* not found any yet.

Any firmware update that increases battery life, even a little bit, is worth upgrading to IMHO.

I agree with everyone!

Its worth upgrading to iron out and old bugs and improve batterylife BUT..........

from V21 to V30 is erm, 9 (count em) Vs!

surely this update should have been V22??

Logically V30 should be the last firmware and we should have had V22, 25 and V27 to space it out.

From V13 on orange (yuck) to V21 it was a magical transformation, no more white screen of doom, crashing, batteries that lastes 4 hours.

Now on V30 the only physical difference is a new screen saver and an accelerometer which i dont use.

Sure the battery life may have been updated but by how much? 30 mins? not exactly groundbreaking.

I think of things this way, for the last few years the N95 has been the Top deluxe phone, to buy on PAYG it was £400. Now with the release of new phones, THEY are too much for the casual user to buy, so naturally people will find the N95 does the same stuff but a heck of a lot cheaper. So maybe the N95 will still be around and supported for many years.

The N95 is the PS2 of phones, old and clunky (in the shadow of better updates)

but still used and supported by many!

I too, don't want to be a downer....but...

I was so excited with the prospect of a new FW....and...apart from ASR, which again I stress it works rubbish....there's nothing really worthy to warrant a difference of 9Vs.

And the alledged improved battery life...I'm not conviced it has improved....

Even the lousy cumbersome calculator, which could have been replaced by the one available at Nokia Labs, is the same....

I'm just an update freak. If a new update is out, I'll upgrade to it as soon as.

Bit like graphics card drivers etc. I just HAVE to update!
