Updating n95 to v30 problem!
Hi there,
I have a phones 4 u product coded n95. (not branded with any operator)
However, the nokia updater wont let me update it to v30 saying v21 is the latest available.
Anyone know how long it takes for P4U to update their software, or shoudl i change codes, then update? (even though this invalidates warranty???)
thanks in advancew!!!

Have you checked Nokia Europe - Device software update - Support to see if your product code has an upgrade? Some product codes actually don't have v30 upgrades.

What is your product code ?
There is no such thing as P4U software, so V.30 should be rolled out for all generic codes pretty soon.
It's your choice whether to change product code or not, only you can judge hownrelevant is the warranty for you.

Product Code 05663389
v21.0.016
14-02-08
RM 159
The box has P4U UK RED on the label so I can only assume Phones 4 U?
Otherwise im pretty sure its generic software, as it doesnt have any markings.
Only difference is its the red version of the n95 which seems to be pretty rare?
Don't all generic ones have releases simultaneously, then the branded ones delayed?

Yes your phone was purchased from P4U but the phone will not have PFU software.
I'm not to sure if all generic product codes software is released simultaneously, as with the latest N82 software some generic codes didn't have an update when some did.
Branded SW's take longer as some networks have to cripple it before it's released.

That's exactly what I thought but I seem to be finding the same with Carphone Warehouse.
They are obviously not as generic as we thought.....! :-s

this is really annoying - why do they have to put their own product code on, and then they dont even personalise it!
did you say the CPWH n95s have the same problem?

No, they do not release all generic ones simultaneously, but the delay is much shorter than for the branded ones.

o you are right, they aren't generic as they like to make you think. I have a cpw o2 branded. Taken out on an ORANGE contract. I clearly stand by the fact I debranded. Orange is my SERVICE provider and in some cases won't have anything to do with my phone, as far as they are concerned cpw provided me with the actual phone so sod all to do with orange. If I was you I'd debrand right now!!!!!
