Upgraded from V14 to V30 and back light randomly turns off.

Hey,

just upgraded my N95-1 from V14 to V30 after alot of hassle changing product codes etc and it works as well as I had hoped. But for some reason when browsing the menus the backlight decides to randomly turn off for a second. Doesn't do it at any particular time but is very annoying.

Any suggestions?

Does it come back on again then or not?

Did you install any back-ups after the upgrade?

I suggest that you carry out the upgrade procedure again and test it thoroughly before adding ONLY your phonebook back-up if you need to.

If you have a memory-card, remove it before doing the upgrade and format it before re-inserting it in the phone when the upgrade is complete and after you've tested that the phone is functioning ok...

Have just tried that, memory card is out and hadn't even copied contacts from SIM and it started happening. It did not happen before updating to the latest firmware though.

hmm... Are you using the latest version of PC-Suite?

I'm struggling to find a reason here as I've not upgraded to the latest firmware myself and I don't even know what the best version of PC-Suite is at the moment.

Failing all else, it seems a trip to an NSC might be in order...

Please close this topic. The N95 was a used one from eBay and the screen has stopped working all together. Should of checked here first!

Thanks for your prompt responses though, much appreciated.

If the phone hasn't been tampered-with or damaged, it will probably still be under warranty, you don't need the original receipt, the Nokia Service Centre goes by the IMEI number... So it may be worth taking that route...

I'll close the thread shortly if there are no other responses. :)
