Can anyone pls tell me how to register an account on www.symbiansigned.com.
This is required to obtain .cer file from .csr.
How long does it takes to activate ?
Or is there any other way to do that.

Thanks in Advance

Yes its working fine for me....

What is the exact problem? Im afraid I may not be around much in the next week to see your response but when Im back in action Ill try to help everyone through this process, it took a while for me to nail it but now I can sign any app and it works a treat (finally!)

Stay tuned.

Unfortunately, If you Google 'SymbianSigned' you'll soon see that they aren't known for prompt customer service... Even for paying customers!

Frankly they strike me as a monopolistic and slip-shod organisation...

If you ever do get a reply, please let us know. I already have an account but unless I can remember my log-in (which I can't) it's useless to me!

At one time you could register rapidly and automatically from the site, it seems that they've stopped this facility now though. This fact, combined with the totally ludicrous security lock-down of software permitted by the OS, is a ****ED nuisance!

Perhaps if they didnt lock 3rdparty apps down, our phones would be BSOD'ing 24/7 like Windows ;)

But yeah it is annoying, took me like 2hours to sign one app!

In Nokia's case, it's not so much a security-measure, it's more akin to raving paranoia! As for WM, if you don't thoroughly check what you install, you deserve all you get!

If this included the time spent registering an account, please tell us how!

^ Well this was before they decided to use email for registration.

Basically I entered some details on their website and gained an account, then received a special code to use in SignSIS-GUI_v1.1, along with my IEMI/serial number. I then processed the unsigned SIS with SignSIS and installed the newly Signed SIS on the phone. The tricky part was finding a virus-free SignSIS utility and actually figuring out how to use SignSIS, it gave me a cryptic error which took a while to figure out. One of the fields was incorrect (full filename path was missing or something).

Now you need to email Symbian to create an account.

Curses! You've burst my baloon! I was hoping that you'd found a place on that extremely confusing web-site of theirs where you could register!

I've started a tutorial on how to go about this but on completing the process of obtaining the initial code to submit, I found that, as you say, the web-site registration option wasn't available any more... Although I remember reading somewhere that they had, or were planning to re-introduce it?

Not sure. It appears their website was down due to maintenance, existing account holders need to wait a few weeks to be able to re-sign their apps, and new accounts need to be emailed to symbiansigned@symbian.com. But it seems that symbiansigned@symbian are very strict in giving out accounts now. Perhaps they only accepting genuine developers and ignoring all casual users attempting to crack their unsigned SIS's.

...judging by what ive just read from these threads:
