TomTom Help

Chaps,

I've got a fully licenced version of TomTom 6 (my licence, not someone elses!) and each time I try to install it to my N95 8gb, I just get an error message on the phone, telling me its unable to install.....

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance

Rob

What process are you going through to install it?

I've tried various things - I've tried copying the files directly over to the phone, I've tried TomTom Home, I've tried using the Nokia application installer - all with no joy...

What's the error message.

I have TomTom 6 installed on my N95-1 and I get a certificate expired error when i have to install/re-install which I get around by setting the date back 1 year.

Have you tried copying the sis file to the card in mass storage mode and then installing from there?

tomTom won't help you I'm afraid, their customer service is non existent

You DO realise that TomTom won't work with the internal GPS? Even when installed successfully, you'll still need to use an external GPS-receiver... :(

Very true Spook

If you need to buy one Rob swerve the TomTom one, there are way better receivers available. Not necessarily cheaper than the TomTom one but will track more satellites and get a lock much faster.

I'm not suggesting you go and buy one if you already have one though

I'd say drop Tom Tom, it's not worth the hassle, yet. Buy Garmin or Route 66. Both work the N95's Internal GPS.

Well RobV - I am sorry but I am going to confuse you even more as I cannot agree with some of the others as I believe IMO that TomTom is by far the best and having tried Garmin and Route 66, TomTom comes out "head and shoulders" above these.
I would suggest that you copy your TomTom program direct to your memory card. Then put the card into the phone and install it then.
As mentioned by others earlier - you will need to have a seperate Bluetooth satallite receiver that will need "pairing" with your phone for TomTom to work.

Personally I prefer TomTom and having paid out for a licence, I want to use it!!

I'm a little fed up that you can't use the internal GPS aerial, but its not the end of the world to be honest.....

I've tried everything - I can't physically put the memory card in the phone, as its an N95 8gb - so I've copied the files over to the "memory card" permanently installed in the phone... However, nothing works - I'm still getting "unable to install" errors and nothing happens...

Any ideas???

I really don't want to throw away the software and replace it!!

If you really cannot get it to work, send it back (and tell them you had an E65, which is on the list as supported).
