Using Orb on de-branded phone on 3 (three) (and how to skip track) ???

Hi,

my first post here, I've had a really good look and got loads of apps. . . I am most impressed with the 'Money Mirage' where you use the accelerometer to control the movement as you 'fly' through the sky . . anyway, the other thing I'm REALLY impressed with is Orb.

BUT I have a debranded t-mobile, which I am using with my 3 sim card . . .

I was told by a friend that the branded 3 phones come with an Orb application already installed .. . . and I also read somewhere else that the phones come with it 'installed'. . . . however, I can only use Orb on the Orb website, on my phone.

There is nowhere to download a program to your phone. Anyway, three questions:

1 - Am I supposed to just use the net version ordo 3 phones come with an Orb 'Application'??

2 - when using Orb on the website, on my phone, when I click 'play all' it opens in Real Player and I cannot skip track, just fastforward and rewind. This is very annoying, can anyone shed any light on any of this?

3 - I have a download limit of 1GB (x-series Gold). I presume that Orb doesn't stream the whole file in its original state (eg mp3s 4mb+) . . . do they decrease the quality in order to stream them? if so, what size would the average mp3 be?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Chris.

(ps I bought my N95 for £20 off my boss!! :D - how good is that!!!)

ORB runs on your PC, then is accessed anywhere via the web page (mycast.orb.com). There's no application on the client, be it phone or another device, there allowing any device with a browser to access it.

Not sure about the skipping track thing, sorry.

It doesn't download in the same format. i think somewhere there are even settings to decide what the stream speed is, and therefore the quality.

thanks for clearing that up :D

I'd still LOVE to know about the skipping if anyone knows . . . .

I'm sure that I managed to skip track the first two times that I ever tried to by holding the skip button on the headphones remote, but after that it just started fastforwarding, which is the same as when you hold the up button on the phone, which is annoying.

I've searched google and found NOTHING, searched on here and you cannot search for 'Orb' as it has too few letters : (

three letter search

I had the same problem mate. ORB or SIP searching is a bit of a mission on here.

Maybe the track problem is real player? Have you tried it via you pc webbrowser with real and windows media? see if it lets you skip there? I will try it later. But i agree ORB is excellent. You post prompted me to show people at work. We ended up watching the IT Crowd in top quality streamed from my server at home (i work in IT in Holland, so it was especially nice fore the Dutch, as it wa like moving Dilbert)
