Anyone using StyleTap for S60?
I am still considering moving to the N95 from my Palm Treo. I have a number of Palm apps that I am rather attached to. I see that StyleTap has (is going to have?) a Palm emulator that works on Symbian S60. I'm wondering how StyleTap deals w/ the lack of a touch screen on the N95. Has anyone here used the beta? How do they handle the lack of a touch screen? Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance!

i came from the touchscreen devices and i thought i was gonna miss it but with all the features the n95 has you can sacrifice the the touchscreen. you'll get used to it and everything will come easy after a while. :) i'm not familiar with that app but i'll try it out. do you have the link for the beta?

Thanks for the input, but that was not my concern. What I'm trying to discover is how STYLETAP deals with Palm applications that are expecting a touch screen.

to the end program there is no difference between input from a touchscreen or a mouse or a button click it's all the same in the end so programs aren't exactly 'expecting' a touch screen but they may be optimized for one.

OK, folks, I guess I am not making this clear. Let me explain in more detail. Let's take a specific example. I have Scrabble for the Palm. When you run Scrabble, it displays the Scrabble board on the screen with a row of tiles on the screen below the board. To place a tile on the board, you tap the tile w/ the stylus and then tap the square on the board where you want to place the tile. I have tried to play Scrabble on my Palm phone WITHOUT the stylus and have been unsuccessful. Now, if I run this SAME program (i.e., the PALM version of Scrabble) under StyleTap, does StyleTap add any emulation of the stylus, or will this program simply be unusable. I have been able to find any info on the StyleTap site, so I am looking for a knowledgeable StyleTap user to answer.
Thanks again,
Gary Walborn

you would probably just scroll over to the tile with the d-pad hit the middle button and then do the same for where you want it on the board. Not sure how or what Palm does with their buttons but the input to the program should be the same. Now if that programs doesn't recognize the hard coded buttons then that doesn't have anything to do with touch screen or not.

So StyleTap introduces some sort of cursor which is controllable via the D-Pad (similar to the mouse pointer in the browser)?

that I don't know, never used style tap. My references were to different types of inputs in general. Doesn't hurt to try I guess, you have a link for it?

StyleTap for Windows Mobile for Smartphone is for devices without a touch screen and a stylus, and provide a 5-way button for moving around the screen
Also note there is still no version available for Symbian devices.
