Handy Shell By Epocware

Check this out!!!!





Handy Shell is a powerful replacement of standard Active Standby. It allows you to carry out most common everyday operations quick and handy.
Today view allows you to get information about your phone settings, ongoing calendar events, incoming calls, sms, e-mails, weather forecast, and provides with application shortcuts with the help of different Plugins. There are 6 types of Plugins:


Clock Plugin


App Shortcucts Plugin


Phone Indicators & Settings


Calendar Plugin


Weather Plugin (requires Handy Weather v.6 or higher to be installed).


All Plugins can be moved (along the screen), customized, activated/deactivated trough Settings view (Options > Settings > Plugins).

Start typing to invoke Dial or Start view. This view searches through available applications to start or contacts to dial. If no applications or contacts meet search criteria, it simultaneously suggests you to dial corresponding number.

Applications
Applications view allows you to launch quickly 12 (3*4) favorite applications. You can replace, move and delete corresponding Shortcuts trough Option > Shortcuts submenu.


Contacts
Contacts view allows you to work with (call, send SMS) 12 (3*4) favorite contacts. You can replace, move and delete corresponding Shortcuts trough Option > Shortcuts submenu.

Wow, looks pretty cool. I find the Active Standby OK, but definitely would like more control! Thanks!

I just Googled for it.

Taken it off now anyway, haven't seen so many out of memory errors since demand paging arrived.

I was kind of hoping it would intergrate more and replace the built in Active Standby. But basically this just runs over the top so-to-speak. Its just an application running in the background in other words. Which obviously, eats up some of that precious memory. You can close out of it and you're back to normal desktop.

Wook from Symbian Freak has proved its possible to alter the applications that appear and launch from the built in Active Standby. So an application that lets us control that, would be of more interest to me personally.

I'un-installed it too, wouldn't reset my alarms in my default clock app.
