Is there a compass app?

Hiya,

Ive been searching with no joy.

My friend asked me the other day if there was an application he could use on his phone (n95-1) that would emulate a compass i.e. show where north is.

I said sure theres loads and of course, i have a search and find nothing lol.

All i can find is a prog called trekbuddy which needs a degree in rocket science to set up. It has a compass on but i cant get it to work and il cry if i have to try and use it again.

Is there a simple compass prog that uses the gps of the phone?

thanks

when you search for an app, put 's60' (compass s60) at the end and it should give you what you need. :)

that is usually the case, but i'm using a compass app made in java:
Compass

i have been using it for about 4 years on my previous phone and on the phone before that so it's a quite old and basic app.
but it does exactly what i want it to do

Thanks for the info georgije,

I have installed that prog and i now have a blue compass with the sun at west and the moon at sout east.

I cant see either the sun out of the window or the moon as its a cloudy day so this app is kinda useless at the mo sorry lol

Is there a simple prog that uses gps for example?

mrbob the problem you'll find is that GPS will not tell you which way is North unless you are moving. There's no way to tell which way you are facing based on where you are unless you have a reference point, such as the sun or moon.

I believe one of the Navigator phones has a magnetometer in it which will give you direction but the N95 does not.

You can use the gps position app that is built in as a simple compass but like jkoppee says you have to be moving for it to work (with at least 5km/h (~3mph)) with some precision.

Bush's face takes a grim look and he replies "OK, thanks". Then he starts to cry. Cheney is really puzzled and he asks Bush: "Why do you cry over two Brazilian soldiers?"
Bush looks up to him, still crying and asks: "Dick, do you know how many thousand two Brazilian are? I forgot to ask the general."
