Gmail on N95

So I'm having trouble linking my Gmail inbox to the N95 email program in the "messaging" area of the phone. i enter the incoming/outgoing mail server and all that stuff, but i just repeatedly get prompted for my username and password and it's unable to connect. is there something i'm not doing?

Are you using secure authentication?

Most common mistake for this is that you use just your gmail nickname, instead of the full emailaddress:

"yourname" instead of "yourname@gmail.com"

If you want to be sure, check the needed settings:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL: pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your Gmail username (including @gmail.com)
Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)
Password: your Gmail password

Indeed, that is exactly what I do, but he was asking for the email-client settings...

i have followed the instructions and it keeps saying "connecting to mailbox" and will prompt me for username and pass, but i can't get past that. it keeps prompting me.. then it will ask.. "save password to mailbox settings?" then eventually it says connection to mailbox refused, check password/username, or something like that.

Maybe you should give some details... (blank out the personal data)

Yes, try the settings wizard. I did it via the wizard. Just enter email id and password. the rest is taken care by the wizard.

setting wizard works great, and if you get a problem with the emails it loads being old or from random times, go to gmail on your laptop and enable pop for all new emails from this point on. even if you already have pop enabled refresh it, that cleared the problem up for me. although i mostly use the gmail app, search feature is great on it
