python and Megapymodule pack

OK, have seen these mentioned a lot.

I've downloaded them and they're sitting there ready for when I've upgraded my firmware.

Question is, what do they actually do? Do I actually need them?

I've searched the forum for these but not sure I've seen an explanation of what they do. I know python is a programming language but as a beginner what would I use it for?

I've only really learned about my N95 on this forum and am trying to get my head round all of the apps that are available for it.

I'd quite like the screen rotate function and to be able to run a few games like bomberman for instance. Looking forward to lightsabre as well.

Given this is the case, is it worth me adding python and the megapymodule? What else will they allow me to do?

Sorry if these are really basic questions but I'm starting from scratch here and have a lot of learning to do.
