Importing POI's to N95 like speed cameras etc

Found this little S60 software to do the job.

have not tried it yet but looks promising.

Form the Developer @ mobile-j.de :: start

Introducing POIXpress
Before Nokia Maps aka smart2go I didn't paid much attention to the landmarks stuff included in S60 3rd. In fact I don't know any other application which really uses the landmarks yet. But smart2go does and it does it well.

The only problem for me was: My device don't has the built in landmarks application and without that application you can't use the LMX import. (And you can't use "Send waypoint" etc. in smart2go … but that's no problem to me).

Since I don't have any POI files in LMX format I don't really miss the landmarks application. Instead I made a small application to import ASC and OV2 (TomTom format) files. And it can export in ASC, GPX and KML format. (Since Nokia Maps is nice to create landmarks and I can use them in Google Earth and other applications this way I think it's very cool.)

I hope you like the application the same as I do.

The only problem there is that the landmarks stuff is so slow. You should limit the number of landmarks stored in the phone. Otherwise Nokia Maps might get too slow to be useable. (At least that was my experience with a lot of landmarks. And POIXpress gets really slow,too. So it doesn't seem to be the fault of the beautiful Maps app.)

Now this looks Interesting as you can import OV2Files ( Speed Cameras ) amoungst other things

This is somewhat similar to the Nokia Sports Tracker application...you'd still need to export the file to be used in Google Earth and can't really track your progress in realtime on the map...

Does Nokia Maps give you an audible alert as you approach POI's?

It works fine when you import all the UK speed cameras (must be quite a few), but it took an age going into the Landmarks option after that! Several minutes, in fact

Glad it works , if not slow . I think the developer mentions that . I still have not used it yet :o( Will get around to updating my blog and some forum time when this current project ends.

It seems to work.

However - every time I load Nokia Maps it takes over 10 minutes to load.

Not really practical at the moment.
