Yep, likewise... Good find Calam! :)

From what I gather, self-signing doesn't allow full access to the inner workings of the operating system... Programs that need full access to the possibly 'dangerous' parts of the OS are first subject to rigorous 'Test House' examination before a certificate is issued. The likelihood of an N95 running virus-ware is reduced to almost nil by this means, it runs the most highly safeguarded OS that Nokia have ever brought out!

Some people in the UK swear by a product called 'Woofle-Dust' This is a fine powder and the makers guarantee that if you sprinkle a handful once a week on your front path, it will keep elephants away... If it doesn't, they will refund the full price... No-one seems to have seen an elephant approaching their front door to date, as no-one has yet claimed a refund... Woofle-Dust appears to be every bit as effective in repelling elephants as F-Secure and similar apps promise to be in preventing N95 virii infestation... And represents about the same value-for-money IMO ! ;)

Woofle-Dust is awesome. I use it all the time mate. Just to be safe I also spray it out the front of my car, you never know when an elephant will charge you when out for a sunday afternoon drive.

Reread this thread dude, A/V on Symbian OS is a waste of time, memory and possibly money..

Just don't install any apps you don't trust and you'll be right.. I don't know of any self executing viruses for Symbian.. Even if one somehow snuck onto your phone (miniscule chance of it happening) it probably wouldn't run on a non Windows platform..

By far the best anti virus protection is common sense..

I had installed F-Secure for a while (curiousity) and I really see no reason to use such apps on S60v3. On v2 and earlier I agree, there is a good reason to use it but not with v3.

Even self executing virus would possibly implicate use of some more advanced stuff like scripting in MS Office documents. I guess this is possible but only if particular apps are used to perform particular actions (for example to open some documents). In other way the only way to perform such attack would be possibly only to put virus in sis file with application user will install (so both will be installed). Anyway I don't know if there is any easy way to do that so I don't suppose anyone would try to do that. S60 now is really enough secured by it's own means.

I'd be very surprised if QuickOffice could run any MSOffice scripts or macros..

You do raise a good point though, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to write a malicious Python script..
