symSMB v2 is available!
For those wanting to be able to copy files up and down between their PC's and their phones, symSMB v2 is now out, and I can confirm it works! I can scroll through any files on either PC's on my home network from my phone... and move them down at wifi speeds, not bluetooth!
This is a must-have app!

Nice bit of software, tnx.
As a sidenote, I can get it to work N95 ----> PC fine but not the other way.
Any idea where I might be going wrong, I name my connection " N95" and the Share "Images" then try and Map Network drive to \\ N95\Images but it cannot find the network drive. Also the Username I am connecting on from my computer matches that input into SymSMB for the share, so that is not the issue.
Tnx,
Inqui

First, make sure that the connection is ON. Just starting symSMB does not always enable it... :)
Second, make sure that the ips are correct for both pc and phone.
Thirdly, disconnect the mapped drive, delete the share on the phone, and try again.
If your pc user account info and your phone match, then in the phone the Permissions on the shared folder should be set to the same... e.g. for pc named inquitusPC, username inquitus - on the phone it would show up as
InquitusPC\inquitus under Account settings
Of course, I managed to type my password in wrong, that slowed me down too...
There are a huge number of settings in xp which all need to work together... after troubleshooting, I found I hadn't been able to read my pc shares because in secpol.msc network clients were set to login as guest not as themselves (classic setting)... and guest had no permissions....
Hope this helps. Tech support at telexy is first rate but they will probably be overwhelmed with questions about v2...

First thing would be to make sure your phone is connected to the network.
I assume you have added the machine or domain name to the account on the phone?
Have you tried the "Connect using a different user name" method?

This is just a fantastic piece of software... it's just been brought to my attention that this program is for some reason no longer available at our store, though it was most assuredly there yesterday. It's certainly a must have for anyone that does any decent amount of transferring data to and from the N95, as we all know how painfully slow bluetooth can be and how painfully annoying wires can be.
I'm looking into what happened to the program at our store. It'd be a great way to support the forums and get a great piece of software at the same time.

Yes, I was just about to purchase it from the store and now I noticed it's not there? I hope it comes back soon.
I found out it wasn't possible to 'open an mp4 in realplayer' that resided on one of my network drives, a little dissapointing, but I feel it would be more of a limitation of Realplayer rather than SymSMB, as realplayer does not give you access to the drive letter!! Grr.
Does anyone else know if there are any other media players that will allow us drive letter access to the network drive for the purpose of 'streaming' (although its not really streaming - its 'block reading') our video/audio to the phone?
So, to summarise, is it down to the Media Player program being able to see the network drive, or is it SymSMB that needs to make the drive appear as a native drive (e.g. Phone RAM or SD card) to make this work?!

Well, I guess it does.... Interesting open ended statements that leave one with little or no assurity that it will ever get fixed.. Obviously not their fault per-say, but it doesn't fill one full of hope they havent found a 'way around' it, and aren't willing to talk about it...

Incidentally I solved my issue from above.
I set up a user on SymSMB as Computer/User with my password (This being my Vista Logon and Password)
This worked great for accessing the PC from the Phone
I also assigned this user as the user to share the share on the phone with. The share being \\MyPhone\share.
When mapping a network drive with vista it always failed despite me being logged on to Vista as Computer/User. I then chose connect using a different username and assigned it as Computer/User with my password, it now worked, really unsure why it did not in the first place but there you go.
