So far we didn't choose the certain month as a target for next SymSMB version. In general, right now the first priority is a version for UIQ3 platform and it will have v.3.00 functionality. Planned for September - October 2007, but there will be some delay.

Right after release UIQ3 version will be made SymSMB v.3.00 and that shouldn't take too much time as there will be almost the same software core for both these platform. I guess it will take from weeks to 2 months maximum
to get SymSMB 3.00 after UIQ3 version release.

For those who purchased SymSMB v.2.00 will be available the discounted price for v.3.00, I guess it will be from 5 to 10 $USD.

Right now it is good time to send us suggestions for improvement for next SymSMB version. Some of already made suggestions are here (in second post from top):

You will get an error when the phone tries to connect to the PC. This has not been resolved.

I purchased SymSMB 2.00 which no longer runs and I have to pay again for the software. The support team are rude and seem to be a bunch of thugs selling stuff they know very little about.

Is the above what you were told by Telexy, or are you saying that this happens in your case? My N95 connects to the PC faultlessly, so I can't see that you've been told that there's an unresolved problem... It doesn't make sense!

Why and in what way does it no longer run? Have you changed your phone? Once you have purchased SymSMB, it's registered to your phone and will run even if you flash your phone with upgraded firmware... As I have done.

I've always found Telexy to be polite and helpful... and they certainly know a great deal about their product!

SymSMB is an extremely useful application and one which I use constanly with no problems experienced so far... I recommend it highly... And I don't advise anyone to buy a product unless I'm very satisfied with it myself.

My response to Stevefwt post in this thread about his experience with SymSMB
come off too long and I decided to move it here in case someone needs to know all details.

I was one of the beta testers of SymSMB and my experience with Telexy is that they are real professionals and take their business seriously so I have a real hard time believing any of these accusations
keep up the good work Telexy!

Thanks Telexy at least I'll get a refund. I merely joined a thread of customers with exactly the same problem! I'll never know if a solution was forthcoming but if you spent as much time dealing with customer problems as you do writing about us things may have been better.

The 'No web gateway reply' with my phone had absolutely nothing to do with SymSMB as you suggested many times.

I am glad that at least something in this situation we know for sure. :)

In the mean time, let me suggest for you, if you didn’t do this before, to upgrade your D-Link router firmware just in case, as a few of our customers have their problem solved by doing this.
Secondly, you still have the option to create a new thread on our forum for troubleshooting of your particular situation as I hope that in this case I will know OS name on your computer, exact router name and firmware version and probably more details. I think that now both sides could be more careful with words and we can go farther than the last time.

P.S. Keep in mind that if in your situation problem will be finally found and IF it happens to be “on your side”, this scenario is less preferable for me that an opposite one. In this case I have nothing to gain, i.e. I can say for you “I told you so”, but so what? There is nothing to gain still.
I am more interesting in another situation, WHEN and IF there indeed something is not correct in SymSMB. This way I know that problem will be fixed, this way it works to my advantage as well as for customers advantage too.

Furthermore, the free SymSMB 2.00 license will be presented
to anyone who will be able to be first to find the real problem or will help us to identify such.
Free means Free. If someone already paid for SymSMB 2.00 we will return money back to make it Free.

So far, for SymSMB 2.00 only one such a problem have being found by customers,
in fact that was found by user Sp00k from forum http://www.n95users.com/forum.

To get this error is necessary to have the combination of two parameters in the Network drives options:
1) parameter "Host" contains IP address;
2) parameter "Access point" contains "Always ask".
In this case is impossible to connect Network drive.

At Telexy Networks the error was classified as a minor and decision has being made do not prepare separate fixing solution. Current recommendation is to use in Host filed the domain (computer) Name instead of IP address (as described in documentation and it is a preferable option for majority cases any way). In case you really need to use IP address in Host field, make sure you are using the "User defined" selection in Access point field.
Anyway, right now it is mostly up to you to prove us if there is the mistake in SymSMB 2.00 and we are more then glad to help you with.

Nice review Telexy

I am now doing testing on the software and trying to find out how to keep the internet connection and file sharing on at the same time.

Well done

SymSMB works great to connect to my network drive from home. I haven't been able to get it to work over the internet, however. I use the URL and not the IP. It would seem to me that I have to forward a particular port to my network drive in order for this to work but I haven't seen anything regarding port forwarding. How else would I reach the network drive (NAS) behind the router? Thanks.
