Well, I guess someone amongst this misers gathering had to buy it!
Summary: it's worth the money but it's not quite as worth it as I'd hoped... However, even though it's a commercial release, it's still in the early stages...
I've only used it for a short time so far but it's played AVI's and MP4's without complaint... AND, to my delight, MP2 audio... meaning that I no longer have to convert my DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) recordings to MP3 any more!
As I say, I've only scratched the surface so far and it seems that it's quite happy with 320x240 video files, as they get bigger it tends to stutter, stumbling badly over full-size ones, so conversion will still be needed before you can play a DVD-type video... only to be expected though...
The options available are many and varied, far too many to go into here, one thing I liked being the key-mapping to suit the user. Nice touch! It also appears to handle podcasting, though I haven't delved into that yet.
In my estimation, the playback definition and colour gradation (range & intensity) is superior to 'MoviePlayer' and much more pleasant to watch.
As I say, it's early days yet and there are a couple of functions it's missing, or hopefully that I've missed, one is the timer, I can't seem to find one and the other is that it doesn't resume a track or video where it left of... as far as I can tell.
BTW Don't breathe a word to anyone but... If you use the code: LaunchPromo before August 31st, you'll get a 10% discount off the purchase price... But remember! I haven't told you this!

Sounds promising :) Now if only the battery life was suited to viewing video files for any length of time lol

I already don't like the additude of this group for several reasons.
1. The state that they "like trends" and so they will call it a 1.1 "Beta". But we still pay $24.95/$29.95 for it? I don't think so.
2. No trial? No thank you. It'd be different if it was a $4.95 or $9.95 program, but it's thirty dollars. Come on.
3. In response to the question, will it support WMA/WMV- the response is that they'll keep us guessing until the release? What kind of additude is this?
No impressed with the software already, and I haven't even tried it. Until I can trial the software, I'm not one bit interested in paying 30 dollars for a Beta program!

I've used the freeware version from this group for years on WM devices, first as BetaPlayer then later as TCPMP, it's something that I missed badly on Symbian and so I was willing to pay for it.
It's proved to be value for money so far and I feel pretty sure that it will become even better value as we get future updates, that's the way that things worked with the commercial WM versions.
So far it's given me two major advantages, no longer do I need to convert MP2 audio to MP3, saving a LOT of time... Plus I can play all my video files without having to swap programs to suit different formats.
I've a lot to discover about it yet, it's extremely configurable, with options galore to choose from, getting the best results from it isn't a five-minute exercise!
I'm happy with my purchase and confident that it will steadily improve, I know how this can be from past experience with these developers, they don't stand still! :)

Is "additude" a joke pseudo? Only because you said it twice...
but its true, you make some very good points. A 30 dollar program with no trial is just foolish. It almost seems like they are trying to bait people with the reputation of the WM version even though this is a whole new animal.

lol... sorry- no joke intended. For some reason, there's a couple of words I constantly misspell fully knowing how to spell them.

Have you tried 640X480 yet in any format? I ask because I like to use the TV out alot...and so far 640X480 in the DivX player doesn't work too well.
Also does it play WMV files?
Keep us posted. Thanks.

Nope. 15 pounds doesn't sound any better to me. I must have missed the joke.
