Scanning and Remote Access

Ok let me just say, these forums are great, started browsing today and got loads of new stuff for my N95. I've only just got this beast of a phone and its my first smart phone so i am a bit of a noob.

Anyway 1 question:
I was looking at the 'Downloads!' section on the N95 and found ScanR, which looks great for my degree, so i downloaded it as it's free. However it seems to want me to purchase a license for about 20 quid which seem steep. Is there anyway to get either this program or a similar program free? Like it is described.

2nd question:
I looked about on here and found a thread about remote access, but tbh i didn't understand a word :D, so though i would kill 2 birds with 1 stone and tag this on here. Is there a way to remotely access my PC through my phone or vice versa? Also, more importantly is it free? (:< Cheap arse student ftl)

Thanks guys

I would look for Comombo, much better IMO than scanR. It reduce the size before sending it out. ScanR always had blurry document when I send it, Comombo is very clear.
COMOMBO | scan, fax and copy with your camera phone

For PC access look for Salling Clicker, not free but the DEMO work good (except after 30 clicks you have to connect again)

Get a VNC client on your phone, there's a few free java clients around and I believe at least one Symbian.

Then get a VNC server running on your PC, lots to choose from there, TightVNC and RealVNC spring to mind.
