Windows Live Messenger: The Latest

As far as we can gather, the official windows live messenger client will no longer be free unless you are using a windows device.

More information should be available at Nokia Europe - Windows Live but I believe this is down at the moment.

This rather suggests you have the option to pay, or use another service.

A response to the charge lies simply with this:

Although IM on the PC is clearly free, in the mobile space operators typically charge for messaging, be that SMS, pSMS, eMail etc. The business model has been established and we are very much working within that environment in partnership with the mobile industry. Much of the pricing/packaging will most likely depend on what country you live in. In some cases the operator (or us) will charge a monthly fee. In other countries operators might buddle this with other data services. And then in some countries it might also be free. No one answer I’m afraid, depends where you live and what operator you use.

Charge expected to be about €2 a month but again dependant.

Complete crap. I'll gladly discontinue my use of MSN on the mobile (and I use it A LOT) than to pay one dime to MS for it. They figure just because providers charge for SMS, they feel they're well within "that environement"...?

Whatever. *****s.

Abso-bloody-exactly.

The fact that it can be offered free to those using a windows device just shows their true intentions really.

EDIT: BTW Calam... The phrase is... Abso-Bloody-Lutely... ;)
