TTSMS Reader Freeware SMS Reader for 3rd Ed!
all from SymbianFreak:
"As a courtesy, for the benefit of those who haven't visited and read our forum section frequently, permit me to briefly introduce a simply freeware application developed in Python.
It's actually a mix of several 3rd party utilities, Silentcomm's TWT SMSReader; David Siorpaes' SMSDump and of course Nokia’s Text-to-speech (TTS) tool that comes with the Nokia 5500, 5700 and 6120c.
The SMS Reader (or TTSMS Reader) is a no-frills app that sits in the background and is activated automatically whenever a new message arrives, which is an extremely handy feature in lots of situations, especially while you are driving.
You see, reading the incoming SMS while you're driving means that you’ve only got one hand on the wheel, leaving you with just one hand to steer while the message keeps your sight and attention on the phone screen and it could truly turn out to be a pretty dangerous situation.
With TTSMS Reader it looks quite different. This allows you to listen to the SMS in a computerised voice while you're driving and helps in keeping both your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, where they belong and thus, it's definitely a plus for safety reasons.
Moreover, it is something that is worth trying especially if you do a lot of driving or like to go on long road trips or you just don’t like to stop jogging when interrupted by an incoming message.
TTSMS is also a complete message backup solution. If you happen to accidentally delete an important SMS, or your SMS database becomes corrupted, you can then rely on the backup copy that the program has created for you.
As I said, the application is developed in the Python and requires the latest version for proper operation. Upon installing, you will have a new icon labelled 'TTSMS' in the Applications folder of your S60 3rd Edition device."

The only problem is that it reads text back so darn quickly! It's almost impossible to understand sometimes
