What's the difference between JAR and JAD files.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
I've tried installing JAD files before and they never worked.
I just want to know the difference slash significance of the two file types.
Thanks guys.

.jad = Java Application Description - this includes some information about installation path, file size, vendor name, version etc. and is not required on phones
.jar = Java Archive - compressed version of the Java classes and images etc, that make up the application. This can be opened with ZIP software.

Thanks for the link Dayene. The linked thread confused me a tiny bit but your second post here cleared it right up for me.

Yeah, opening a .jad simply points your phone at the location of the .jar usually somewhere on the internet.

The JAD file is required by some applications to enable the availibilty of certain attributes to be set, so it's not always as useless as it seems
