ok, had a look at the app and its pretty cool..
(but....not meaning to sound ungrateful at all...)
on my ngage and 6260 i had an app that turned the phone into an actual tuning device, showing the note it heard via the mic, and a live needle which responded to pitch changes, which made it a lot quicker and more accurate to tune...
anyone know if there exists such an app for the N95?

Unfortunatley all I could find was 2 programs for windows mobile devices, and they both cost money.
Annyway I am also interessed in a program like this, to show off my phone to my guitar playing friends =)
Anny programmers feel the urge to make something like this ? :D
Btw: wasnt there a program \ patch that made it possible for us to use WM programs on our device ?

Likewise.
For anyone here who doesn't, its a good idea to keep trying to tune by ear first and then checking your tuning against your tuner. Just takes a little discipline and well worth it.

Tuning a guitar by ear is no problem, even for tone deaf people, just try listening to the pitch of the vibration, instead of the tone itself. sounds kinda like this.
vehov-veeohov-veeehov-veeeeehov-veeeeeeeeeeeehov-veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... (no vibration)
Starts of as a high frequency vibration, and then it drops in Hz the closer you get to the right tone. once the string has the right tension compared to the string youre tuning after the "vehov" vibrations copletley disapear, and if you go to far it starts off slow and increases the frequence (an opposite "vehov" scale)
Offcause this is no use unless you have a referance point to get a clean "E" on the first string or what ever string you tune after.
Here in Norway, the standby dail tone in house phones is always an "A" so i sometimes tune the guitar after my house phone. (not mobile)
It`s a great app, but if you have to tune without tuning aids for a while, you can do this blindfolded

Good explanation - if you're really having trouble its easiest to tune via an amp with some distortion using harmonics, as you can clearly hear the beats (what Caitho is talking about) between notes that are not in tune...

I had a 6260, for a week! LOL Stupid mono MP3 player, stereo MP3's sounded wierd and had to be converted to Mono!
Aaaaaanyway. If it ran on the 6260, would it have been a Java app?
